Our Traditions

Thanksgiving
For Thanksgiving we alternate, so one year we are at Adam's families and the next we are at Heather's families. It is much easier than trying to make it to each of them.

The Great Turkey Bowl
Adam and the boys have been having a paintball game the day after Thanksgiving for several years now. They have a lot of fun and come home with battle wounds they think are cool.

Empty Bowls
On the Friday after Thanksgiving the Idaho Foodbank hosts its annual Empty Bowls event. Throughout the year the food bank collects handcrafted and handpainted bowls. from professional and anateur artisans, students, and studios. The event offers the opportunity to select a unique bowl from thousands and then enjoy a hot bowl of soup donated by several of the finest local restaurants. Not all our Idaho neighbors are able to meet the basic need of feeding their families so financial support from the event helps to provide free emergency food to those in need.

The Christmas Wand
The wand comes out just after Thanksgiving. It starts when someone does something nice for someone else in the family. After the nice has been done they leave the wand behind for the person to find and do the next nice thing for someone else in the family. This continues until the new year comes. It is a lot of fun and keeps everyone in the Christmas spirit.

Christmas
At Christmas we have lots of things we do. We love to go look at the beautiful lights. with our families so close it has been a great that Adam's family celebrates on Christmas eve and Heather's celebrates Christmas day. We also have a pickle orniment that who ever is having Christmas at their house hides on the tree and who ever finds it gets a special gift. It's fun.

McCall Winter Carnival
Heather and her mom and the little ones, and sometimes Adam and gram go to see the snow sculptures and the cool things they have at the winter carnival in McCall, Idaho. They have dog races, a parade, and fireworks. It's great fun.

Halloween
Most years our sister in law has a cool Halloween party. Everyone comes in costume. There are craft projects, fabulous food that everyone brings and even a costume contest. Then we gather up the kids and go trick or treating around their neighborhood.

Easter
Every year we get together and plan a breakfast and Easter egg hunt at our house. We have friends family and neighbors that come and attend. Each  year it seems to get bigger and better.

Art in the park
. Heather and her mom have been going to art in the park since she was a small child. There are artists of all kinds who come from all over to sell their wares. They also have arts and crafts for the children and food venders too.
